Installing Kadee couplers and making sure they are in gauge height, etc. I know Miles Hale did a similar one one using the NMRA gauge to set up track and wheel sets awhile back, that helped me understand their use a lot more than I had thought I knew, from reading about them.

Really enjoying the airbrushing clinics, my next purchase will be an airbrush set up, now I'm ready after seeing the TMTV shows. I was always a bit intimidated by them in the past, no not so much.

Also your NCE DCC programs could not have come at a better time, as I was deciding which system to get and after watching the "Setting up a Powercab" video - I went online and purchased one as soon as the video was over, just got it in and now to finish my TOMA to try it out on.

Okay, sounds like you're requesting a video on installing Kadee couplers, right?

Kadee coulpler install video

I've seen a few different videos on installing Kadee couplers, and some on tuning the installations, but I would like to see a single video covering the whole deal: installing the couplers, testing the installation, and identifying and correcting the problems that happen once the car is on the layout.

I've run into things like drooping couplers after the car has been on the layout for a while, couplers that won't center any longer, and problems with the couplers separating on vertical curves.  Nothing that couldn't be fixed, but it did require some digging to puzzle the causes out.

Even adding some tips on different methods of uncoupling (picks, small screwdrivers, magnets, spotting over magnets or electromagnets) could be useful for someone trying to move towards operations on their layout. Pointing out potential problems with mixing different brands of couplers could be helpful too.

Thanks,

Janet

Sounds like a great list

Sounds like a great list for the Run like a Dream: ROLLING STOCK volume. One intent of the Run like a Dream series is to pull together an in-depth set of how-tos on preventing, diagnosing and resolving performance problems with the topic areas: trackwork, rolling stock, and locomotives. You can find articles and videos on installing Kadee couplers, but I've never seen a comprehensive discussion of the considerations and issues that can happen with couplers and how to fix them -- all together under one cover (or in the case of TMTV all in a single video or two).

Yes to Kadee coupler videos...

Yes, as I have been getting back into the hobby after a long time away, I'm finally able to do so many things I never had as a kid, like upgrading models to Kadee couplers. Back in the 70-80's I only had horrible horn couplers on mostly Tyco cars then.

I agree this could be a good segment under the run like a dream ROLLING STOCK volume. I've seen a few Kadee videos on Youtube, but nothing that really covers them in an easy to understand (from a beginner's point), and certainly nothing of the quality Barry does with TMTV videos. One of the best things I've done was sign up for TMTV since getting back into the hobby. Thanks for considering it Joe, you guys at MRH and TMTV are the best!
