One of these days, someone is going to read this.... and follow it.

Hobby Event notices posted to the website do not appear in the magazine. There is a separate submission process for that here:  http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/contact/news_product_announcement

The Subject line for Hobby Event notices should be formatted as follows:

City, State, Event name, Date of event (or "Repeating")  Nope, that's the old way - with the number of international events showing up, we're going to do it this way:

Country, State, City, Event Name, Date of Event (include the year, please), or "Repeating"

What text or graphics you put in the body is up to you.

Every month MRH will go through and delete old notices. It is recommended that discussion of events be made a separate discussion thread in another area of the forums.

Our organization’s mission is to own, operate and maintain model railroad layouts at a suitable location in the Glens Falls area and set up displays in Glens Falls and surrounding communities in Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties.  These events will be designed to educate the public and our members regarding the history of railroading in the United States, particularly in the Northeast, and the service and benefits railroads have provided to our economy from the early 1900's to present. The club will also strive to teach adults and children how to set up model train layouts and scenic dioramas depicting prototype railroad operations by bringing modular railroad layouts to schools, civic events and celebrations, and by setting up train layouts for display at local malls.  With the exception of our annual fundraising train show, all events put on by our club are at no charge to the public although we appreciate donations. We are open to the public every Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Upstate Model Railroaders, Inc. is a 501(c)3 charitable organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.  Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Why do people post event notices here?...

...most people don't care about the rules so post them under a heading that makes them look at your post and want to goto the show!

Posting

Thanks for trying to get some sanity into the posts, but people to continue to either not understand that people outside their communities won't now of their show by name, or want you to look anyway.

Little in the hobby annoys me more than when someone's going on and on about a show known by just the event name (or worse, an acronym) and they get really cross when you ask where the heck it is.

Just listing you show as, say, "The big kahuna train show" will mean something if you live nearby or belong to the group putting it on. But people more than 30-40 miles away won't likely have a clue what country you're talking about, let alone what community.

That's why I rarely ever look online for these things other than the local region NMRA page, which is excellent for listing even small shows in my region. I didn't travel outside the area to go to trains shows even before the pandemic.

Does the event have a name and website? Normally you would make this into its own post.

Well, I followed it except that I used the original formatting instructions for the subject line and cannot edit it now. You might want to delete the "wrong" way before "Nope..." and only show the correct instructions.  If a moderator can edit my subject line, please change it to:
USA, CA, San Bernardino, Roundhouse Gang Swap Meet, Oct. 15, 2022.
