I often have issues with a block of text randomly inserted into my forum replies, it will appear in the middle of a word:

"< span class="rangySelectionBoundary" id="selectionBoundary_1473637423039_44667019891869103" style="line-height: 0; display: none;"> "

It has happened with different computers.  It caused the text to superimpose in the Body window of the reply and causes the following text to be not visible in the normal forum view.  I can fix it by editing the post, changing to plain text view and removing the offending text listed above.

What is causing the text to be inserted?

How do I stop it from happening?

What device and browser?

Can you be more explicit - exactly what devices and browser(s) are you using? Windows, Mac, tablets, smartphones ... and Chrome, Firefox, Safari, MS Edge, Internet Explorer, AOL, what?

Are you preparing your comments in another piece of software and pasting them into the forum?

Okay, try a different browser

Internet Explorer, aye? Try a different browser and see if it similarly mis-behaves. FWIW, some 12% of our users now use IE, yet over 90% of the time someone reports an error, it ends up they're using IE. In short, IE is an extremely buggy browser. As the saying goes, the best use for IE is to download a less buggy browser.

Sounds like your IE has become infected with Malware

The more I google your problem, the more it looks like your Windows IE 11 has become infected with Malware that's hijacked the Rangy.js code used by IE and is making it insert junk into editable text blocks. You need to do a major Malware removal, per these instructions ... http://www.pcmag.com/article/343882/how-to-remove-malware-from-your-pc Or just use a different browser that's not so readily infected. IE is a virus enabler that happens to include some web browsing capability.

Have to look into it more

Since this happens on different computers, some of which have very robust screening against malware and it only happens on this forum, not any of the other 6 or 7 fourms on which I participate, I could see where its an IE problem but I don't think its a malware problem.  Since I do not own some of the systems on which I have had the problem, changing the browser and downloading and running malware scanners isn't really an option.

Thanks for looking into it.

Perhaps ...

... this is a problem with the spell checker. I have had some problems at times with it, however they have been minimal and infrequent. I would suspect the reason it appears on many different PCs, but only with IE, then your MRH account settings or your "Post new comment" settings are the cause.
