To All: More today on MN's varied locomotive roster. CCLX (Crome Crankshaft) RS-32, #4000 was acquired by the MN in 3/1979. She is ex Southern Pacific RR #7300 and renumber by SP as #4000. This unit was returned to CCLX after some time. The photo was taken next to the MN's North Yard one stall engine house (former GR&I/PRR Yard) at Cadillac, Michigan. Photo by Elvin Howland. nice catch.

not sure if 4000 is one of them, but got a couple long distance shots of a few RS-32s in the Chrome Crankshaft(CCLX) yard next to the santa fe shops in San Bernardino back in 85 and 86. In 85, the couple of RS-32s had a lot of company with ex SP C628/630s, a couple trainmaster slugs, a few U25Bs and a ton of S6 switchers. The next year about 3/4 of them were scrapped or in the process of being scrapped. Think only a couple of the S6s ever got out. Loren Casey Maryville,IL

Thanks!

Thanks for posting that, Elvin!

I've seen photos of every other locomotive the MIGN had (and shot a number of them, myself, back then), but haven't seen a shot of #4000 before. That's the one I've been looking for, the last few years.

This reminds me that I have a GP7 painted up as MIGN #1603 sitting on the shelf-- it's basically ready to go but for installing a decoder, which would be a good late-night project for the coming long weekend.
