Thank you!

Since taking the photos I have tried to enhance all the Locos and rolling stock on the railroad by painting all the couplers a rust color and weathering trucks, wheels, and gone crazy with the airbrush!

Nice Photos!

I especially like the first scene on the trestle.  Thanks for sharing these.

How did the weathering of the couplers, wheels and trucks turn out?

Thanks again!

Weathering

I will have to get some new photos taken and post them in the near future!  So far painting the metal wheels and trucks and highlighting the springs in the trucks has made a great improvement adding to the detail!  While I had that going I weathered each car while I had the airbrush fired up!

layout photos

Some nice close up photo's of your layout. I recognize the building in the background as a Walthers kit. I built it myself years ago. Its a great looking building and the Rutland 202 looks fantastic in front of it.

Thanks Tom

I am hoping future photos will look a little better now that I have Weathered the 202 and its sister units on the layout!  Yep that is a Walthers kit behind the locomotive and it has been on the layout for a long time now!

Very nice, Skiwiggy!  What I

Very nice, Skiwiggy!  What I like about your scenes is that they are very full looking.  I like your attention to detail.  Keep weathering your locos and rolling stock.  It really adds to the realism.

Project photo from reply on Archer Rivet Decals!

Kitbashed Accurail 55 ton hopper and Bowser 70 ton covered hopper combined to create this early cement service car!  A line product stirrups and grab irons replaced all the cast on detail!  Archer O scale rivet decals used to match the factory molded rivets and Champ hopper car dimensional set and road name set used for the lettering!

You will like them!

Thanks Mike,

I think you will like the decals once you start using them!  When I first received the decal sheets the first time I was unsure if they would even be noticeable!  I did the cab roof of the one 2-8-0 with the HO scale rivets they are noticeable but, they just don't look as good as the slightly larger O scale rivets!   I purchased a few of the different sets to try them out and I have been very pleased with the outcome!

Two cars built for Nick's Railroad! nbrodar

Here are two cars I built for Nick's railroad!  These are Walthers 100 ton Greenville hoppers kitbashed into illmenite Ore cars! The decals are from Highball Graphics!  I had wanted to create these for a while however they are a bit too modern for my modeling!  Yes the railroad has diesels in the modern scheme running around but, all of the freight cars are 1930' to late 1950's!  What can I say I like the Lightning stripe scheme and ALCO's.

New Projects! Upgrading headlights to match the prototype!

Below are some RS-3 locomotives I am working on upgrading to match the prototype!  The Rutland had two different configurations of headlights!  The dual beam and the single lens set up were used!  I am adding marker lights, cab signal boxes and steam generator stacks on the appropriate models.  Some weathering that was covered up with new green paint will be dulled down to make the front match again!

All of the Delaware & Hudson RS-3's will get the single beam headlight treatment.  The Atlas models dual beam is not correct.  The part to convert is from Cal-Scale #190-396 Single Beam Pyle National.  I plan on inserting LED's into this piece that I cored out using a Dremel round grinding bit and then a round file to slowly open it up some more to allow the LED to slip inside.  I just need to purchase some more LED's now that I ran out!

I discovered that engine 4110 won't be able to accept the treatment due to a sound system speaker that was installed inside the long hood end!

The new single beam headlight LED has been installed in #4120 and has its radiator grills darkened, new D&H style air horns applied and trucks weathered!  I also applied a Miniatures by Eric dynamic brake grid on the short hood!
