Hi all.

Yesterday, I wen't to a friend's place, for some talk and coffe.

He is a great modeler on building rolling stock.

So, we left the wives and the children back on his living room and went to his train room, so that he could show me what he is up to.

The first model a steam loco, is a portuguese steamer, the CP 117, with Loksound V4.0 installed from factory. It's the first commercial model of  portuguese steam locomotive.

The second model is a UTD 0600 (the UTD stands for Unidade Tripla Diesel - or Triple Diesel Unit). The unit is completly scratchbuilt, using brass and stryene shapes. The sound is a Loksound V4.0 that he asked me to insert the sound project.

It was a fun night

I hope you enjoy.

Portuguese model trains

Very nice modeling, what scale is the layout?

Cheers,

Rich S.

I'm guessing HO

Based on the size of the track rails and comparing the train to the arm at the end of the video, HO seems likely.

I'm very impressed by the scratchbuilt UTD - that's some very fine work.

Yeah it's H0

Hi all.

thank you for the comments.

Yes all  the models are in H0.

The guy is a true master.

I will post some more photos of his work in transforming commercial models in to CP (comboios de Portugal , not Canadian Pacific, LoL) models.

Regards.

Comboios de Portugal

CP has used a lot of ALCO derivatives. Several diesel classes could be bashed from available offers of US locomotives by someone skilled (AKA not me).

It is interesting to know that commercial RTR offerings are now available. Which company manufactured the steam locomotive? I suspect I wont be lured into Portuguese modeling but as a son of a Portuguese mother I am curious to see who took the chance and if it met success (enough to keep releasing new offerings).

Hi all.

As promissed, are some photos of the models he has done:

CP class 2600 (Alsthom), made from a french Märklin model, probably the BB15000IMG_3739.jpg

CP class 1800 (English Electric), done from a Lima British Railways Class 50

CP classe 1550 (Montreal Locomotive Works), on of his first. I believe that started as a KATO SD40, but I'm not sure.

CP class 1520 (ALCO). Started as Proto 2000 RSD 4/5 (I'm not sure).ALMEIDA4.jpg

There are more, but I don't know where I keep the photos...

RTR models

Hi again.

Daniel, there are more models available nowadays, because the hobby is picking up again in Portugal (I think so...)

So, the Steamer is a joint venture between a shop in Lisbon and a Spanish manufacturer called MABAR. That shop is the only on who sells this model. It's an exclusive. There are two running numbers, 110 or the 117.

Then, you can get the electric CP5600 ou the Railcar CP 592 (Camello) from Electrotren. There are two running number of this electric model

Then you can get the diesel locomotive class CP 1400, from Sudexpress (in two colors):

Also from Sudexpress, there will be available one the of the first electric locomotives that were made to portuguese railways (there will be 17 different numbers / versions):D2512(1).jpg SUD2568.jpg

And you can still try to find the ALCO CP 1320 in the 2nd hand market. This model was done by MABAR.

Then there are some brass models, but those are quite expensive.

I hope you enjoy.
