Learning Curve?

What is the learning curve for your average joe?

I have been using Abracadata 3D Railroad Concept and Design for many years, but there are no updates for it and the libraries are old. I can custom build trackwork but I would rather have up to date track and structure libraries. I do like the program as much of the work is done using the mouse.

Is SCARM anything like Extracad which I do not care for?

As it is free, just download and try it. It isn't a CAD like program but a specialized tool for making layouts.

I found it easy to get going and the website has a lot of tutorials and tips to help you.

Also there are lots of free layouts on the site to download so you can play with someone elses design and see how easy or hard it is for you to work with.
