So I am spending a few days in Tampa visiting relatives and was wondering if there are any good train stores in the area.

Depends

Tampabay itself no longer has any train stores.  You can go to St Pete (over the bay) and there are 2 over there now, though I have only been to 1 of them.  The other alternative is Orlando, Colonial Photo and Hobby, but that is 100 miles away.    H&R Trains is one of the St Pete stores.  The other 1 is so new I haven't been there yet.  Yankee Dabbler has a presence north ot Tampa, but not sure they have a brick and morter place there.

Is the other one your

Is the other one your thinking of the House of Hobbies at 37700 US Hwy 19 N, Palm Harbor, FL 34684?  They have some train items, some appears to be very old stock.  I believe the owner had a shop in Clearwater, but moved north to his current location in Palm Harbor.  They do have a nice supply of building material in both brass and styrene. houseofhobbiesfl.com I found a set of Roundhouse Overton Passenger cars their.

Glad to see that H&R are still going, last time I went there (1994 -is it that long ago good grief) they were well worth a visit not far from Pinallas mall (at least that is how I think that's how it is spelt) I lost several happy hours in there,

Tampa Train Stores

Of the few remaining Gulf Cost in Sarasota is the best, I think they have the best selection and worth the trip. H&R is good also, last few times i was there stock appeared to be low. I did not know House of Hobbies was still around will have to check it out.

hobby shop in Florida

Gulf Coast Hobby is an excellent store with a large selection in HO & N, plus Lionel.  Kelly is very knowledgeable in DCC and much more.    phone is 941-923-9303     worth the visit operating layout too.

New Shop In Pinellas Park, FL

There is a new Model railroad shop in Pinellas Park, not far from H&R.  Take Park Blvd. west from US 19 to 52nd Street.  Turn left on 52nd Street and go one block south.  The name is Zitnik Model Railroad Hobby Shop.  Gale, Dave, and the staff are very helpful, and the prices are great (especially compared to H&R(higher than retail)).  I believe they are closed Sunday and Monday.

ok so I tried the shop on 19

ok so I tried the shop on 19 and I guess according to the sign it is under new management.  It was not really much to write home about unless you are into Lionel.

We then took a nice drive and went down to the place in Sarasota.  That is a nice train store and we picked up a couple things and may have to go back if I give into temptation.
