Hello, I think you did it

Hello, I think you did it again! Very nice work, Joe!! I especially impressed the color of the street and a "patch" job on it. Also logs on the parking is just like The Oro bakery on Flickr's photo. One question though. What kind of material did you use on the track area? Looks like a real dirt(?). Please keep posting the pictures!!

Thanks Everyone

Yes that is real dirt, scooped from trackside (or what used to be lol). I gave the dirt a couple spins in an old coffee grinder then sifted the bigger stuff out. I'm happy with how it came out but I feel its still too big, so next time more sifting.
I used the 50/50 glue mix the secure it after spraying with alcohol.

When all was dry, I dusted it with more dirt to get it looking really dry and dusty, then vacuumed the loose stuff. Finally, I used some chalk powder to vary the color here and there. It's no Confalone (lol...new phrase) but my kids are diggin' it so that's alright with me!

Eventually (as in millennia!) I'll find the time to put a tree or 2 and some bushes and trash!

Thanks for the comments on youtube too!

The Burbank Branch

Looking fantastic.

As you say, when time allows, more trash, weeds and junk scattered about.  Looks too clean and nicely kept for the UP, or any railroad branch.

Great looking start to the "finishing touches..."  Keep us updated.

Thanks Pat! My plan is not to

Thanks Pat! My plan is not to vacuum the layout as well! Jokes aside, its great to see all the California modelers coming out of the wood work, the input I'm getting is great. Thanks again!
