I've never owned a Bowser product, but I've always assumed they've been good products.  I got a notification of their advance order for C-630M's and I thought I might pick one up for potential use on a switching layout.  Any thoughts from those that own Bowser locos?

I don't have any Bowsers

I don't have any Bowsers right now, but I do have one of the C630Ms on order. Sounds a heck of a lot more promising than a certain brass M636 that is at my club. That thing looks nice but runs like crap.

It strikes me though that maybe a C630M is a bit big for a small switching layout, although that's up to you.

It is a little large

I like the C630M and it would just be a temporary stand-in until I came across a good switcher that had the multi-mark scheme.  There really doesn't seem to be much out there right now with a CP multi-mark scheme, unless you've got other suggestions that I've missed.  Once I get a smaller loco for switching, this one would go on display until the HO layout comes along.  For some reason, I seem to be going in the direction of a modeler in N scale and a collector of HO...

Bowser opinion

I don't have any of the C630's, but I have a couple of the Stewart C628's, they run really well, the mechanism was a little stiff at first(probably because they had been sitting on a dealers shelf ), but once I cleaned them up and ran them for a while they run great. I don't think  that there has been a change to the drive since Bowser took over, so I can recomend them.. Now if only I could get them to smoke convincingly, to go with the sound chips I put in.
