Hi @all,

For our fremo division, I want to build a module and need your help.

Please imagine: a double OR a single track main and a branch junction, with interchange between them, best in the south east.

Does somebody have a link to photographs, or a name with which I can make a research with google earth.

Thanks!

Martin

Gilchrist Junction Oregon

Local to me is very small junction that leads off to a lumber mill.  Has a run around, the branch, and of course the main.  Zoom in and take a look around.  Russ

The IC double track mainline crossed the Baltimore and Ohio there.  You can see where most of the old tracks were in this Google Earth Image:  h%20View.jpg I have a Sanborn Insurance Map in .pdf format from 1929 that shows the track layout fairly well.  I can email it to you if you want it.

Junction / Interchange

Martin,

In the southeast, take a look at the old Atlantic Coast Line.  Branches off the double track main at Rocky Mount, Wilson, Selma, Fayetteville, Hope Mills, and Parkton, North Carolina; PeeDee, Florence, Lanes, and Yemassee, South Carolina; and Waycross, Georgia.  There are a number in central and along the west coast of Florida as well although most were single track junctions.

Not a lot of double track mains in the south, but take a look at Route Maps for Southern, Seaboard Airline. Louisville & Nashville, and Florida East Coast.  You can further investigate anything that looks interesting.

Your premise sounds interesting; good luck.

Martin, I sent you a private

Martin,

I sent you a private message about the Sanborn Map. I'm not sure how private messages work here, but if you send me an email address, I'll be happy to send it to you.

My email is jrwhite@midwest.net

Interchange

Check out Effingham, Illinois (now CN and CSX).

If you can find older photos you'll have a classic looking setup.
