Host Layout

These are some shots of the new HO layout by the host club of the show, Prairie Rail Workshop.  Previously, they had an N scale modular layout they displayed, but recently they began the HO layout, which I've been looking forward to seeing...

This is a neat module of a bandlands-like area... 

HO Layout from Prince Albert

This is an HO layout from a club in Prince Albert, SK.  I like it when they show incomplete modules like this so people can get an understanding of how they are made..

Thunder Creek Model Railroad Club (Moose Jaw, SK)

Moose Jaw will be hosting a show next month at their Western Development Museum as well.  This is their layout...

Martensville, SK Model Railroad Club

This is one of the clubs I was not aware of before, hailing from Martensville, SK (about a 5-10 minute drive from Saskatoon), and they are looking for club members...

N Scale Modular Layout

O Scale Dual Gauge

Here is an O scale dual gauge layout with some interesting mountain areas...

Farm Layout

This actually has no trains on it whatsoever, but just shows that anything goes here - it's for the fun and entertainment of families, not a serious competition, which is one of the reasons why this show is so popular and I'm sure they had a blast making this.

The BiG Layout

This is another local club that also has built the layout in the museum.  I understand one of their founding members passed away this last year.  He was a very talented modeler and will be missed.  This is the G Scale BiG layout...

3-Rail and traction

This layout is a 3 rail, and also has a traction running in through a city.  Pretty neat set up, but I didn't actually capture a photo of the trolley...

Another HO Layout

I unfortunately didn't note the name of this layout or where it is from, but it was quite a display, including operating wind turbines...

More Lego

The Northern Alberta Lego Users Group had a layout as well.  Very neat CN locos and grain cars and also had operating wind turbines...

T-Trak

I wasn't sure (and didn't ask) if this is part of the local club, Prairie Rail Workshop, or if this is a separate club, but this is a T-Trak layout...

Live Steam

I didn't get any pictures of the locos actually running, as the live steam display is always full of people as he shows them how they work, so while he was showing people how they work, I took a couple shots of some of his western town...

Finally...

A few final shots, first off a huge steam engine that shows how they work and also moves to demonstrate...

Next are the North American Railcar Potash car samples.  Very nice models, but out of my era...

And Chinook and Hobby West (from Calgary) had a little display layout with a 3 rail Big Boy...

It's always great to see what was happening at the Saskatoon Show!

I wonder why anyone cares about who is in the background of the pictures?  I don't see it as a problem if you decide to take the time to blur the faces.  The layouts are the focus of the photos, not who was at the show.  To each their own though...
