I've got a couple HO scale Bachmann "modern" 4-4-0 steam locomotives, one operable, and the other basically a parts donor.  I'd like to swap the steam and sand domes between the locos.  I tried gently twisting one off the donor loco, but it didn't want to budge.  Does anyone know whether they are glued on or simply a friction fit?  Or are they secured by a screw inside the boiler (I haven't disassembled either loco yet)?

Thanks in advance,

Loco diagram

From the Bachmann website. Looks like screws.

Steam dome

I remember that on my "modern" 4-4-0 (the one with the Alco-style gumdrop domes), the steam dome is held in by a screw accessed from the inside of the boiler. Can't remember about the sand dome.

Screws inside

Yes you have to remove the boiler to get to the screws. I have two 4-4-0 that came with modern and old style domes.
