Super Bowl Weekend - Only had to go to work 3 hours on Saturday so had some time over the weekend and before the game to work on the Railroad. Got all the various parts for the electrical switch controls so was able to build & install 9 of them. Thought someone would get a kick out of the controlled chaos so I took some pictures. This is only a temporary install till I can put on the fascia. I will manage to control the wire a little better  at that time.

These are Fleischman Switches & their version of a snap switch machine. Good stuff, you don't have to use momentary power as the magnet over travels and kills the power so you can use DPDT toggles to run them. Also the switches have a spring built in them that holds the points in place which ever way it troughs.

I am also going for LED lights for indication of switch direction, RED for diverging & GREEN for straight. LED's are 12V pre- wired (running on 9V DC), I had to do some extension to the leads. Top toggle is for switch on left and bottom for the right one.

Wire nuts are from WAGO and installed using industrial Velcro (you could use 2 position for most of it but all I had was 3 and the price is not much different, and of course the two position ones came today......), these are great for trouble shooting, installation and replacement of parts when they break. All soldering is done at the bench so I can make up the "harness" easy and install is very quick. Looks like a chaotic mess but you will not see any of it when the fascia is installed and there is a method to my madness.

You see 3 sets of bus wire under the layout, outer set is RED/BLACK - Easy DCC Track BUS, Middle set is BLUE/YELLOW - Switch Power BUS 13V DC, Inner set is GREEN/ORANGE - Lighting BUS 9V DC. Hence the requirement for a double pole toggle switch.

I figure my cost of parts from e-bay is right at $2.00 & 1 hour labor for each switch machine, wire was free as it is old gray scrap Cat5e I get when we rip out stuff at the plant. This does not include the switch or switch machine.

Thanks for reading and have fun... DENVER BRONCOS ROCK!!!!!!
