I am a newbie and want to setup a small layout due to limit space, HO scale. The base table is approx. 5.2 x 3.4 ft (1.6m x 1.05m) . I am referencing the layout of Noch 18580, which is similar to two circles, but find it a bit boring and this layout is not easy for me to add Faller automatic level crossing kit.

I prefer a mountain area layout, including tunnels, Faller car system, lake and bridge (too much desire ). My locos are ROCO S3/6, V220, BR52 and one Bachmann steam loco 2-8-2, together with some freight cars and 3 long ROCO passenger cars (maybe only run 2).

Any inputs on the track plan, the scenery and the structure are welcome. Many thanks.

You might really want to

You might really want to consider N scale for your allotted space, you'll have a much 'larger' layout.  Anyway try this web site.

Thak you RSN48

Many Thanks for the recommendation. The site contains not only track plans but also very useful knowledge to a beginner like me.

You are right, an N scale is more suitable for me. But I've already got several HO locos and sets of Fleischmann HO tracks in hand, difficult to change now.

Um.....

Make it at least another 30 cm wider or your 2-8-2will have issues making a full 180 degree turn

am I the only N Scale Pacific Electric Freight modeler in the world?

@ Bremner

Thanks. Space is a problem and the table has been ready.
