Hello all. After several attempts I am trying again to add updates to my progress on a four foot corner module addition to my N Scale Mooers Junction RailRoad. The idea came when a fellow N Trak member commented that if I was building a module a four foot corner module would be helpful.

As can be seen in my previous posts my layout is a basic J shape and mostly point to point. Taking measurements showed that a 48 inch square would fit perfectly to close in my layout, allowing some change from point to point. The three N Trak lines would work perfectly as staging tracks.

Having fallen in love with Gatorfom© several years ago it was the only choice for me. I picked up a full sheet of 1/2" cut in half. My previous posts show one of these halves setting on top of the framework for my 4 foot corner module. Gatorfom© has worked well for me and my apartment layout. It can be worked with knifes, hand saws as well as with powered wood working tools. Even after several years and several moves my original Gatorfom© sections show no sign of warping.

The picture above shows the use of GF scraps I glued and screwed to the frame, using ‘vinyl adhesive caulk’ and drywall screws. Screws can be removed after caulk cures.

Above is a closeup of the use of 3” coarse drywall screws to ‘clamp’ 2” rigid foam insulation to the Gatorfoam.  This clamping method squeezes the vinyl acrylic caulk, that I use here also, paper thin and prevents moving till caulk cures. The screws are then removed for use again. As can be seen the screws into the frame will countersink the washers. The other washers are tightened snug. A little practice with a slow powered screw driver and they can be inserted without stripping out the GF.

Using a little water and a chisel pointed tool and old roadbed can be scrapped up leaving the GF smooth and unscarred.
