I haven't been doing much lately
I haven't been doing much in recent weeks primarily because the situation at home has not been conducive to it. You see my mother-in-law had a coronary and between the week she spent in the hospital and her death and funeral, no one ay home has felt like doing much.
My wife, of course, has born the brunt of this ordeal and she has needed alot of support and attention. But the loss of my mother-in-law has been quite an ordeal as well. She was the one who appreciated the fact that I was into model railroading and she took an interest in all of the paraphernalia related to trains that I have collected since the late 1970s. She even influenced the design for my uder construction current layout because I need to allow a 4 foot wide passage for her through the trainroom so she could get to the laundry room while shlepping laundry bags that she insisted that only she could do the laundry correctly. So we let her do it even though my sons and I usually ended up bringing the laundry down to the basement because that 82 pound old lady had trouble carrying the bags toward the end. She hadn't done laundry for us four the last year because she had a lot of trouble climbing up and down the stairs for the last lear.
Of late I've been playing with ideas for scenery as you probably remember from my recent postings. I now have plans to add another building to the corner section I am working on. This building is going to be called Eva's Laundry though I haven't decided whether to make it a laundromat or a dry cleaning store. I've got plenty of DPM buildings that will fit the bill since I have at least two copies of each of 13 or so N scale structures DPM made waiting to be used at some location on the layout. Of course I am going to have out how to arraneg the interior of this structure so that it can be seen through the windows. Yeah I know, the DPM buildings don't use plate glass fronts but that deosn't mean I can't modify one to include them rather than the tiny window panes that were once common on such structures.
As always, comments, suggestions and helpful advice is always welcome.

Irv,
My deepest condolences to both you and your wife. It sounds like your MIL was a fantastic, spunky lady - kind of reminds me of my mom's mother - who turns 90 in June!
Philip H. Chief Everything Officer Baton Rouge Southern Railroad, Mount Rainier Div.
She was spunky alright...
At 97, she wasn't yhe kind of oldster you usually see. Her body may have been shot but she was 82 pounds of sharpness and wouldn't allow anyone to even try to put something over on her.
Thanks for the condolensces.

Condolensces, Irv
I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but at 97, it would seem that she had a rich, full life.
A rich full life.
She did but if she lived for 97 years we can't help be believe a few years more (say 13) wouldn't have hurt. But it was not to be given the facts. But lets not get into that.
