Well do I spend over 100 bucks to buy a sound decoder, speaker, baffle etc and then spend hours trying to fit it all into a Bachmann GP30, or go for one already done? Easy answer. A brand new Bachmann S4, Milwaukee Road, complete with sound. Is it Broadway Limited, or Atlas or P2K? No but thats okay. For my small industrial switching layout, an S4 is the perfect thing to work in and out of those tight spaces. Looking forward to hearing it, seeing it and running it.

Very nice

Bachmann is on to something with the "sound value" line IMHO. The first one was the 2-6-0, which is a great little locomotive.

Good choice

I have a couple of these locomotives in my stable, and they run and sound very good considering the price. No, they don't have all the bells and whistles ( excuse the pun ) with air release and track sounds as the high price spread, but for the money they sound perfect. I think you will like this loco a lot.

Good choice.

I have been following the Bachmann forums for some years and the sound value seems to be the latest thing.

Not a sound value as far as I know but the new 1870 American with sound will be a surprising addition.

Wanted small diesels so converted the HO 44 ton and 70 ton to sound.

I have several Bachmann

I have several Bachmann diesels: GP9,RS3, and S4. All have sound. The GP9's I added sound to the others sound value. I also added details: grab irons & signal hoses.  Joe
