I bought this kit from a collection donated to my club. I thought with it's small size and rustic appeal it would be perfect for my fictitious northeast narrow gauge. Because it was modeled after a southwestern prototype (see photo of kit box cover), the kit came with no doors and a roof ventilation structure for cooling. It also had a small addition for a handcar. I eliminated the roof ventilation structure, built doors and eliminated the handcar shed in favor of a workshop / office.

Construction

This is a wood kit so I bought some Northeastern board and batten sheathing for the workshop office and thin board sheets for the doors. The doors and windows for  the addition are Tichy products. I simulated shades in the addition with a piece of masking tape. I still prefer wood as a building material and assemble it with white glue. You do have to hold the parts together and flat using weights and/or magnets on a steel surface till the glue dries. (see photos)_

I brush painted the exterior

paintmrh.JPG d%20mrhr.JPG eredmrhr.JPG ouse%201.JPG ouse%202.JPG use%204r.JPG I brush painted the exterior sides with Floquil boxcar red  thinned to get a bit of a weathered look. The inside was painted with a Floquil SP gray. The Campbell shingle roof was painted with gray primer and weathered with dark brown weathering powders brushed on while the paint was still tacky.  This was done based on the advice of Wayne Sittner a well known modeler I met at the NEPROTO, meet and my son, Neil. It will be served by a Walthers 90 foot turntable and is the right size for small narrow gauge engines.

Not being specific. I have been collecting HOn3 since I was a teenager and am now 74 so decided the equipment needed a home.To make it worst a friend did the same thing, but decided to give me all his HOn3 including 4 steamers many pieces of rolling stock, mostly in kit form..Allways admired the EBT,but wanted freelance.I am calling it Wild River. It will interchange with my freelance standard gauge. Here are a couple of phots of the layout. They have been croppedr.JPG croppedr.JPG posted before

The roof was a project from the Campbell shingles to the painting and weathering. I got help with the weathering from Wayne Sittner Eric Harismann and my son  Neil.

Nice Job

Are those cabinet latches you are using for assembly magnets? And what material are you using as a glue barrier over the plan? I'm working on a kit where the designer suggests mylar (printer transparency sheets), but glue sticks to it just fine.

Ii is a fixture sold by Micro Mark. It comes with a one foot square piece of sheet metal with a  one inch lip all around..  The magnets they supply with it do look like cabinet  magnets.
