Well I decided to tackle a Tichy Pacific Fruit Express kit. I've accumulated a couple of these from EBay buys.

The Kit looks to have quite a few parts and looks fairly detailed. So we'll see how this adventure works out.

They list the colors you'll need in the overview. I decided to go with the yellow instead of orange primary color. After experimenting with different yellows. Mixed the two art acrylics together 50/50 and ended up with what looked like a suitable yellow.

So here's the sides with four light coats with a brush. Don't own an airbrush yet. I think any more coats and I'd of lost the side detail.

Then this is my attempt at highlighting the door hardware. Did good on the first but got a bit shaky on the other. Not sure how I'll remedy that. The color is called Pavement, Apple Barrel brand.

I used the same Pavement color for the under frame. produces kind of a grayish black look. The Fish belly beams only have one coat for now. Once everything is assembled on the under frame I'll do a final coat.

That's it for this installment. I'll keep posting my progress as I go.

Thanks for following along...

Touch-up

A small flat brush is an excellent tool for touching up the yellow around the hardware. Wait until the black is thoroughly dry, pick up a tiny bit of color on the flat brush, and just slide it in toward the edge of the raised part.

You really would enjoy an airbrush, though it is nice to sit at a quiet able in the house and brush-paint.  Yellows and reds cover better over a sprayed white or silver prime coat.
