No video on latest issue

If anyone is having video problems, this is what I found.

I downloaded the embedded Mar/Apr issue of the  magazine and found that none of the video content would play. Going to the Blip-TV site for help was of no use whatsoever as it seems to deal with online video only. On changing from full screen view in Adobe I noticed a warning,(which is not visible in the full screen mode) that Adobe had disabled some functions for safety. Allowing these functions to run restored the ability to view the videos.

Yes, Adobe thinks playing video is somehow "dangerous" so they block the content and you have to "approve" the blocked content to get it to play.

It's also danged annoying that they changed the interface with version 9.3. It used to be that when you clicked video content you'd get a popup dialog box. Some "brain" at Adobe decided poping up a message below the menu bar would be better - except if you're in full screen, there is no menu bar to be under - so the danged message doesn't show.

How that's an improvement is beyond me. Some days I'd love to just give the whole Adobe suite a swift kick out the door ...

Joe I think Adobe closed and locked that door and forgot the key on the table inside as with their up grade to Adobe suite 9 it is no where near as good or as user friendly as adobe suite 8 was at least from my point of view,

When we do a large back file conversion to PDF (image and text searchable), most of our clients want us to make our PDFs 5.0 and up compliant.  We use Acrobat 8.0 and have no reason to upgrade to 9.0

MRH Standard Edition is PDF 5.0 and above compatible - we did that (after something of a false start on issue 1) because we had so many people who couldn't access our content for one reason or another.

The Embedded Edition needs all the latest stuff - including Adobe Reader 9. You can make it work after a fashion with 8, but we don't support that. If you read the Embedded Edition and you're using Adobe Reader 8 - and you have problems, our answer to you will be: Upgrade to 9 - or read our online version.
