The Brooke scene is coming together.  Next decision, should I paint a sign on the side of the tobacco prizery (warehouse/factory)? I am thinking something like this would be cool.

Sign Style

I think that would look fantastic on the side of that building.

Is it correct for the era?

painted signs were pretty common in the ACW

For example, this view of war time Atlanta

and this paper mill in Richmond

Georgia Iron works

I'd go for it

Bernie, I'd go for the sign ... I think it would look great. Btw, great seeing you in Portland, and hope you and the wife had a blast enjoying the Pacific Northest ... It was great summer weather most of the week, and it turned wet and cool right when the train show started - perfect timing, actually!

Thanks

Yes, we had a great time. The weather and golf were great. The con and train show were great too.

It was fun to see and walk around your layout after reading about it. The scenes you have finished are outstanding. Now, it's time to get cracking on more scenery!  (Yes, I am doing the same on my layout)

Great Model...

....and yes I would go for the B&W Sign I think it would stand out nicely. I always liked the idea of putting the date in the sign too. Defines ones era. Although in your case that bit of detail is not really necessary!

Sign

I like the idea of a big black and white painted sign on the brick.  I've noted that ACW era signage often has black  (or at least dark) letters on a white background.  That style may yield yet another bit of period authenticity.

Like black on white

I like the Black on White much better than White on Black.
