Here's the rest of the story on layout dismantling by Trevor Marshall.  Does dismantling a layout need to be a sad event?

MRH philosophy

I'm building my clinic slides right now for my MRH Clinic at the Portland NMRA National, and one of the slides talks about the MRH Philosophy. Here's a key bullet point: - MRH talks about the entire layout life-cycle from inception to dismantling. Given that we're about the hobbyist DOING the hobby, we need to look at the layout life-cycle end-to-end if we're to do our readers the greatest service. Trevor's latest blog post is a thougthtful entry in the discussion on the dismantling end of the life-cycle. We're very interested in your comments!

All True

Nothing much to say but it is true. We do discuss a lot about the idea of a layout, to the construction of it and into the transformation of the existent layout or even an addition to one. We cover the whole cycle and all the different tangent of the hobby.

I think one thing will ring

I think one thing will ring true with anyone that has ever dismantled a model railroad. "Where did all this stuff come from and Oh! I remember when I lost that and had to buy a new one to replace it".

I recall the planning that I went through for my move from Seattle to Atlanta 16 years ago. More boxes for structures and rolling stock than were involved in the kitchen. I guess it worked well as I did not have any major damages.
