I've recently joined an operating group, the North County Interchange Operating Group and Friday 2/19 was the first time they were at my house for the Friday night work session.  Most of the guys are in the building stage, so we've yet to do any actual operating.  One of the guys, Bob Wheeler brought along his camera and tripod to shoot some pictures and the shot below is my favorite.   Besides taking pictures we also starting the early planning of the expansion of the railroad into a 15-1/2' x 29-1/2' unfinished area of my basment.  The expansion phase will have less emphasis on scenery and more on operations (for obivious reasons).

Nice Picture!

That's a great looking scene there.  The expansion sounds like exciting stuff.  Looking forward to seeing some progress reports!

Thanks for sharing!

You had me at UBoat!

Not only is ist a great shot scenery wise, but the U BOat in the lead makes my GE-lovin heart jump!  What really makes the pic work is the placement of the modeled train in the scene - it isn't lost in an overwhelming amount of scenery, but it doesn't dominate the scene either.

Great shot

As a GE fan from the land Down Under a really nice shot of the GE. I really like the scenery used in the picture.

Uboat on the trestle

Thanks, Kevin!

Just like a real railroad, the expansion will be paced on how I can get the $$$.  I'll be sure to post photos as I go along.

Uboat on the trestle

Phillip & CSXmodeller,

Thanks!  By the way, the Uboat #2909 started it's life as my first loco as #302 GE demonstrator in all black paint.  The same gentlemen that took the picture, Bob Wheeler, stripped and repainted the loco (including light weathering) for me.  It's a Proto 2000 model with DCC & sound that I got for $100. new.  The reason my first loco wasn't an L&N was I couldn't affort a DCC / sound model.

Better in person

The photo is nice, but it just can't do justice to seeing the real thing!  Your layout is so nice!

Uboat crossing the trestle

Scott,

You're too kind!  The great things about photos is what they don't show!
