First encounter with sound equipped "N" loco. Use Digitrax with DT402 throttle.  Would like to change loco address to 4 digit format. Can I do this with the DT402 as I would do with normal DCC decoder? Thanks

Yes you can program 4 digit addresses

Yes you can program 4 digit addresses with the DT402. Check out KB562 DT402 & DT400 - Programming Locomotive Addresses & other CVs (See below) in the Digitrax Tech Support Depot. Pay specifie attention to step #4. Let us know how the programming works out.

From KB562:

Quote:

Place the loco on the programming track

1.  Press the "PROG" key.

2. Make sure "Pg" is displayed in the bottom center of the display if you want to use Paged Programming Mode.   If not, press the PROG key until the programming mode you want to use is displayed.

3. "AD2" should be displayed on the left side of the screen.

4. If you want a two digit address (01-127) use the right throttle knob and select the address you want to program into the loco.  If you want to program a 4 digit addresss skip to step 7.

5. Press the "Enter" key.

6. If successful the display will show "Good" and then the address you programmed.

7. If you want a four digit address (128 & above) press the right throttle knob down one time and "AD4" will be displayed.

8. Use the keypad to select the address you want to program into the loco.

9. Press the "Enter" key followed by the "Y +" key (this changes CV 29 to enable the four digit address mode)

10. If successful you will see the address you programmed in the display

11. Press the "Exit" key to leave Program Mode.

Programming successful

Thanks for your info Logger01. Only one attempt needed. Decided to try sound in N loco and purchased an Athearn F59 PH1. Happy with it and will invest in more later.

Happy to Help

Glad to hear. The more (DCC) locomotives the better. Just don't tell the Spouse.
