Another FIVE Star Episode on TMTV

Dons technique is simple and effective. I really like this approach.

His models are outstanding!

Anyone else?

Anyone else care to comment? What do you think of Don's work? Care to see any more TMTV segments like this?

Don makes it look easy

I've commented plenty about this segment, as part of the backstory. But I want to draw attention to the first comment on the page for this segment on the TrainMasters TV website - in which the viewer says two things that I think are just great.

1 - He learned "some very useful techniques" from the segment.

2 - Don makes it "seem so simple".

To point one, it's wonderful to bring a segment to viewers that helps them improve their hobby. It's especially wonderful when, as host, I also learn stuff along the way. And I am learning a lot from Don. I can't wait to have him back on TrainMasters to share more of his techniques.

To point two, a lot of what we need to master to build things to a craftsman level really is simple. The biggest barrier is convincing ourselves that we can do it. I think video is particularly effective at this, because it allows masters like Don to show - step by step - how simple it can be.

Cheers!

- Trevor

June Backdrop Clinic

First time commenting on a clinic. This is the best How To clinic I have ever seen on scratch building for me. It was very detailed in the instructions on how to construct the window and putting in the wall allowing for the siding. I have seen other videos where it is assumed that you know how to construct and install windows and doors. I have only been involved in model railroading for a couple of years. Anytime I can pick up information like this only makes me more confidant in my future projects. Thanks Joe, and keep up the great work you do.

I really liked show

I really liked show. I like it better when they film with the window in the background and you see a train (prototype) or two go by. Nice technique, with some research you can make any building you want.

Absolutely!

Not just great methods to go about building something, but sometimes the most useful idea is what the modeler used to get the desired result - either materials, tools, or paint.  I love these episodes just watching folks build stuff!  Watching Trevor and Chris lay down scenery materials on those foam panels, and the explanations of why to put things here and not there - and the results turned out AMAZING!

Would love to see more episodes on scratch building  (or modifying) cars/locos,  resin casting,  building roads and crossings (street running included!).  I'm certain there are TONS more subjects that each of us could take something away from.
