Our HO Scale Joint Bars have been very popular and I have gotten requests to
produce the bars in other scales.

We already offer an N scale set, and I'm working on a channel style version too.

In the mean time, I'd like to know what other scales people are interested in having joint bars for?

O Scale? S Scale? Other scales?

And more importantly, WHAT CODE of RAIL should these fit for each scale?

Here's what the HO 4 Hole bars look like on Tom Gasior's layout...

Thanks for your input!

O scale

Could it be possible to use the HO scale ones for O scale in code 125/100.

the problem is...

as you change scales, the length is wrong.

I hope to offer the correct lengths in O & S, but I'm not sure what CODE to make them fit.

Also the HO Code83/100 set it a tiny bit undersized for code100, Code 125 would need it's own design.

Makes Sense

It makes sense. I was just thinking the width and totally forgot about the length.

Probably code 125 would be a good start for O scale. You might have a problem in Grandt line already making them in code 100 , you might check their website to confirm that they don't make the code 125 bars, I don't see any in my details collection but I might have just not bought any.  For S I'd suggest code 100 as a starter as most guys seem to use it as a default, and code 83 or 70 might interest the more detail oriented earlier era S modelers......DaveB

Sn3 generally uses Code 70, some code 55.

Hello,

A significant part of the S scale market is Sn3 modellers like myself. We narrow gaugers also tend to be obsessive compulsive about detail. It may be a good move to offer joint bars for Code 70 as that is the most commonly used commercial flex track and turnouts (PBL), followed by Code 55.

On a related note, I'd love to see switch details like rail braces, bolt details for frog castings (kind of like an extra long joint bar), etc. Some of these may be suited to laser cutting.

Thanks greatly,

Do you know if Grandt line already makes these in S scale? ......DaveB

S Scale Joint Bars

Grandt Line does not make joint bars in S Scale.

I'll try to dig up some photos of the switch details I'm referring too.

Thanks,

do not recommend

Dear Bill, Grandt Line and Foothill Model Works has the O scaler covered for joint bars in codes 83 thru 125. Not to discourage you from entering the market, but go in knowing who you're swimming with... Happy modelling, Aim to improve, Prof Klyzlr

Went and looked...

I'm not convinced that I agree with Prof. Covered is not the word I would choose here.

I only see flat style fishplates being offered by the other manufacturers. With the exception of the Code 100 L plate offered by Grandt Line.

Is there no interest in the Full Channel style joint bars in O scale?

code 148 for O scale

Code 148 is the most common size in O scale.  It is the only size that Atlas is currently making.

Code 100 for S Standard Gauge

Bill.

Count me in for S scale, standard gauge, code 100.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 12x18 home layout and considered using your C100 HO bars.

S scale

I use American Models Flex track code 148 as it allows scale and hi-rail to run on the same layout but there are some code 100 track makers out there for S.

American models flex track is a solid rail track unlike Flyer tubular track.

MTH now owns S-Helper line of trains including the track which had molded in roadbed I think.

CODE 125

Can somebody give me a good measurement of the web on Code 125 track?

(Please also state the brand of track being measured.)

The web is the vertical part of the rail between the foot and the railhead.

Hi Bill, Here's a sketch of a small piece of code 125 I have in my scrap box. It's probably MicroEngineering rail but I'm not sure. The fillets where the base and head meet the web are kinda hard to measure but it's approximately like this. If you can wait a couple of days for the info I can mail the piece to you  .....DaveBcode125b.jpg

Rail Sizes

Bill;

As to my wishes I have a hankering for Codes 55, 70, and 82 or 83 in "S".  "The Perfect 'S'cale"

I have a spreadsheet of measurements for many if not all rail currently available in US.  I have Aussie rail on there but am skim on Brit rail.  What is your eMail?
