Are the Graham Farish N Scale containers compatible with the Kato n scale well cars? if not how much fudging will it take?

Compatibility should be fine

As long as they are proper scale, they will be compatible. Maybe not 100% interchangeable, as the Kato containers have molded corner tabs for stacking and magnets and plates to keep them in place.

I got a few extra reefer containers from Deluxe Innovations. No tabs and I had to glue in my own magnets and plates so they would stack with the Katos. I picked up some 1/2 x 1/4 x 1/32 inch N42 magnets from K & J Magnetics, Inc. and cut up the lid of a cat food can to make plates (magnet on floor, plate on ceiling). Originally I got the 1/16 inch thick magnets and they are just a little too strong. I'll get what I suggested in my next order. Anyway, you can mix brands if you're willing to do a little work.

I may pick up a few of those Graham Farish containers, too. They look good. Thanks for sharing.

Good luck.

Not likely

The USA prototype Kato Cars are 1:160.  Their Japanese prototype cars are probably 1:150.  The Graham Farrish containers are probably British N Scale, which is 1:148.  If thats the case, they will be too wide for the Kato wells.  They would be fine stacked in a container yard for scenic variety.

Thank you for responding and

Thank you for responding and for the suggestions.Someone else (kcsphil1) also responded and noted that there is a scale difference between USA Kato prototype n scale which is 1:160 and Britain's which is 1:148 which might be too wide. If that is the case then i might just take the hit for one package to experiment with. Thanks again for responding

Thanks for the heads up on

Thanks for the heads up on the scale difference. Just out of curiosity, I might take the plunge on only one and like you suggested if it doesn't work out use it for scenery detail. Thanks again
