3Doodler

From what I've seen the one to buy is the 3Doodler. Looks like the best one, don't get a cheap knockoff.

Would be good for making armatures for trees. Could make quite a few in a short time. Different sizes and shapes. Just what came to mind right now. Any more ideas?

What does it cost, anyone?

Wow

That is pretty neat. A couple of uses for RR's are figure making, and pipe detail on structures providing there is an easy way to run a straight line and have it come out looking like a pipe. Do the basic shape for a figure and file it to the finial shape.

Billboards that are also made up of pipes welded togeather.

Yup, tree armetures

That was the first thing that came to my mind also. Looks like the resolution depends on how fast you pull the plastic thread. Looks like a pencil that you can do 3D free-hand drawing with.

I think it would be a great tool for creating scenery armatures and then covering with other material. In other words make a skeleton and then cover it it with, lets say, plaster.

Welding?

Reminds me of my wire feed welder.

It's pretty neat.  Tree armatures seem possible.  Power lines, not so much.

The new, smaller 3Doodler 2.0 was shown at 2015 Consumer Electronics Show.

Use with a CNC Mill?

I bet mounting that thing in the chuck of a CNC Mill would be productive, especially for someone who can't draw a straight line with a ruler (like me).  Slow X and Y-axis, and a slower Z-Axis to allow for the plastic to cool could produce some amazing stuff.  A cheap US$99 3-D printer for those already using a CNC.  Probably wouldn't want to twirl the chuck though.
