In the comments on my post post about HO Code 55 & 70 Joint bars, I was challenged to create an n scale version.

My question is: "is anybody in N Scale actually interested in such a thing?"

I made some test cuts. If there is interest, I will release the product...

I gotta say those look pretty

I gotta say those look pretty good, but I'm 100% code 40, so won't work for me. For that size I suspect etched brass is probably the only way to go; maybe someday I'll get around to learning how to do that.

Well, I model the modern era

Well, I model the modern era with welded rail, so I don't need as many as some might... but around turnouts, crossings, yeah, I could use some... and I've got a flatcar with a stack of panel track on it that could use a few of them scattered around the deck.

I'll bet M. C. Fujiwara could use some of them for his shoo-fly FreeMoN module on the run-around, too!

Code 55

Dear Bill,

If a particularly "what did I buy that for?" impulse purchase arrives,
I could be in for a few packs of Code 55 N jointbars...

code 55 joint bar

Well, I like fine modeling in Nscale and try to use it on my layout and feel these details nice.

However, I don't think to use such items on my track, because you really not be able to see it on track which is further than 10"; I use code 55 track whith Fastrack turnout and sometimes I feel some rail are oversoldered on the pc ties and could give a bad look but when painted is hard to see it and it will be the same whith those so tiny joint bars.

But anyway it's an improvement to go to fine scale modeling in Nscale

On the run whith my Maclau River RR in Nscale

I would like to try some in code 55 and 40. N Scale

Where items like this show up is in pictures.  I take pictures to see when I am done detailing a loco or a scene.  Nothing like a close up to see the flaws and what needs to be done.

Code 40?

Got the Code 40 sample from Chris (cnscale) today and made an interesting discovery

The difference in size from the Code 40 (brand?) to Code 55 (Peco) rail is all in the bottom flange and the railhead, the web between them is the same .031"

so... then in theory my Code 55 N Scale Joint Bars fit the Code 40 rail.

And they do!
