Does anyone know why the Allagash Op session downloads don't work on iPad??

i tried downloading it to my iPad, and when I tried to open it, it wouldn't open.   Now I am locked out of the first chapter, due to download attempts, yet when I try the same for the second chapter I get the same thing.

Very frustrating that the email and link you get with your purchase is so vague as to instructions and compatibility.....

Yes, you can download and watch our videos on iOS

We make our MP4 high definition video files into zip files so they will download instead of play. If we just do them as native MP4 files, they won't download - and that's no help since you bought these videos to load onto your device, not just play them over the internet! Unfortunately, Apple's iOS doesn't know what to do with a zip file (that's a "PC file format", and Apple isn't about to knuckle under and make any PC file format easy to use), so the file just registers as unreadable. For all of Apple's claim to be making iOS user friendly, this area has a hole big enough to drive a truck through it! Enough of the commentary on the state of the computer industry - you can actually get our videos onto your iOS device quite easily. The next post tells how.

Here's how to download and play our videos on iOS

odreader.jpg First, go buy the GoodReader app - it's about $5. This app is the swiss army knife of file consuming apps on iOS. As you will shortly see, it's amazing what all it can do!

You want this app on your iOS device - it's extremely handy and versitile.

Next, you will get an email from us that has your download links that looks like this:

You can download file(s) for OSL5 - Allagash ops live - HDV - download only at

https://www.e-junkie.com/d/?t=j-nhbfxgcb214379Z&d=pswlk&f=5dc6

Please note, download link(s) will expire after 5 attempts.

If you ever need fresh download links, just email store@mrhmag.com.

STEP 1: OPEN THE DOWNLOAD LINKS IN THE SAFARI BROWSER

Make sure you open the link you get in email from us in the Safari browser. It will look like this:

STEP 2: TAP AND HOLD A VIDEO LINK TO DOWNLOAD

To download a video, tap and hold the click here link to get a pop up menu, then tap Open in New Tab.

os-step2.jpg

STEP 3: BE PATIENT, IT WILL DOWNLOAD AND THEN BRING UP OPEN IN SCREEN ...

Once the new tab opens up, the screen will likely be blank for 5 minutes or more. Be patient! Your video is downloading to your device, even though it doesn't look like it. Eventually, you will get the screen below:

os-step3.jpg

You want to select Open in "GoodReader" ... if your device does not have the GoodReader open option, then select Open in ... and pick GoodReader from the list of apps that comes up.

Video files are BIG, so give it 30 seconds or so for GoodReader to finally come up. Patience will reward you with large video files.

STEP 4: ONCE GOODREADER COMES UP, IT WILL ASK IF YOU WANT TO UNZIP THIS FILE ...

After 30 seconds or so, GoodReader will come up and it knows what to do with ZIP files - it will immediately ask if you want to unzip it. Of course, the answer is YES, so tap Unzip ...

os-step4.jpg

Once you tap unzip, GoodReader will run for a while as it unarchives the zip file ...

os-step5.jpg

STEP 5: ONCE GOODREADER HAS UNZIPPED THE MP4 VIDEO, TAP IT TO PLAY ...

Once GoodReader has unzipped the MP4 video file, it will add it to the file list like this ...

os-step6.jpg

Now just tap the video and enjoy watching! (NOTE: You can delete the zip file, since you don't need it any longer.)

os-step7.jpg

GoodReader allows you to organize files into folders - we recommend you create a special folder for these videos in GoodReader so they're always available to play on your device whenever you like! You can also use iCloud or iTunes to back them up so you won't lose them if your device ever has a memory problem.
