A few of my favorites

Here are some of my favorite pieces of rolling stock.
First is a gondola. It started life as a 50'er but I shortened it to 40'
Next are two flat cars with lumber loads. I scratchbuilt the loads
Next is a hopper with coal load. The coal tower in the background was scratchbuilt. I an getting ready to repaint the tower.
Lastly is my loco shell. I won't put it on the frame until I install the couplers. It is a SW7. It is painted reefer gray on the top and part of the hood side. The rest of the hood and cab are black. I painted the side of the running board, cab end and nose reefer yellow. I also added sun shades, spark arrestors and hood mounted air tanks. The lettering on the hood was done one letter at a time.
Enjoy-Bob

Lettering
I really like the "peeled paint" effect on the lettering. Can you describe how you did this? Is this a technique that be done when the lettering is pre-printed on the model?
Cool Flats with loads
Really like those Short freight cars & your loads. Great modeling.
Do you know of a way to secure lumber loads to flatcars without using Stake pockets?
Many Thanks.
