There's a photo-filled new post detailing the construction on the Thunder Mesa site today.

And here's a spooky Halloween video documenting the build:

Thanks for looking in. Questions or comments welcome.

I like it!!!!

Dave,

You are just having too much fun!!!  I would ask for one little change. In the video I can make out the body of the ghost, but his head is blocked.  I think it would have more impact if his head was visible behind broken boards.  That is just my opinion.  What a great scene to model.  So, is there a tall tale to your own version of this superstition mine?  Long ago did the local Indians jumped a miner because he was on sacred land?  Thus creating a ghostly spirit?  Have unexplained accidents continued inside the mine since his death?  Is that the reason it is boarded up?  Just asking.

Fantastic

The quality of your modeling is exceeded only by the quality of your presentation!

I would echo Den's observation; I didn't pick up that the green light was a ghost until I saw him "fully exposed" in the "making of" video. More gaps in the boarding up maybe?

I check out your website weekly for updates. I was really suffering this summer!

Thanks for all the inspiration.

Ghost

Oops! No, you can't see his face in the video (darn!) but it's easy to see in person. I was straddling a line here between subtle and obvious and trying to strike a balance. A scene like this could quickly become obnoxious if taken too far.

Den, you can find the backstory (tall tale) of the Never Mine at the beginning of Part I.

SPOOKY!

Love it, but not goin' near Never Mine! No how, no way, no sir...

I suspect the light behind the ghost is perfect for the naked eye, but the video is more receptive and 'sees' a diffused pattern. Still cool, but I didn't realize the green light had a ghostly visage until watching the video...

Very nice, looking forward to more entertaining videos from Thunder Mesa Studios. Could I humbly suggest...'The Streets of San Lorenzo' as a future installment...
