Have an aged [probably 10 years old] Digitrax DB150 and had just started a running session when locos stopped. I was using my UT4 throttle. Relative light indicators were lit on the DB150 and green light lit on throttle when I dialled up the loco. No response from loco. I was running an analogue loco on "OO". The loco was " humming" which indicated to me that power was in the track.Any suggestions please? Thanks - Tom

Try a loco with a decoder.

You might need to reset the command station, particularly (I believe...) OpSw 20.

IIRC, OpSw 20 set to "t" enables analog locomotive control, and set to "c" disables it.

Check your manual.

While you're at it... have you ever changed the battery inside? I don't have a DB150, but my DCS100 has a small coin battery that provides just enough power to save all those OpSw settings. If yours has the battery, and it's dead... as Adam Savage would say: "Well, THERE'S your problem!"

Just out of curiosity, if you

Just out of curiosity, if you try to re-acquire the loco (plugging in the throttle again?), does it start to work again?

Is you DB150 making quiet chirping sounds?

I recently did battle with my Digitrax system/layout and discovered a short in what was supposed to be a gapped rail.  It was "almost" gapped, and the attendant stray shorting was made apparent in what Loconet was interpreting as stray commands, which looked like Global Power Off/Global Power On chatter.  It resulted in the throttle dropping the loco.

If any of this sounds like what you are experiencing, look for a short.  As I said, my short was vexing to find.

Thanks for input

Thanks friends for your suggestions and I have not ignored you. I have not had an opportunity to investigate your suggestions as yet but I hope to tomorrow [Friday]. One thing I will mention now is that I don't think my DB150 has a battery - not mentioned in manual. Further results soon. Thanks. Tom

First thing I did today

after powering up was try a decoder equipped loco and it operated normally. I was on my dedicated programming track so no shorts. Then put analogue loco on and no problem there either. So what was the problem. I am inclined to think that the DB150 may have got to it's use by date - is that possible? I have a DT402 throttle coming to replace my DT100. Tom

Digitrax Age

I purchased my Digitrax DCS100 (command station) and a DB150 to use as a booster in 1998.  I started with radio and got two DT100R throttles.  All are still in use on the layout. I have since added another DB150 booster and upgraded to duplex radio, but still use my old simplex radio throttles at the same time.

Last month I was having a lot of problems with my DB150. I found a short in my wiring buss.

From time to time I have had problems with the CVs in some o fmy decoders getting scrambled.  I use JMRI and put the loco on the programming track and reset CVs with JMRI.

I was just about to post

I was just about to post essentially the same thing as Jim just did - same age, same experiences... even same issue with a short!

Digitrax

I have the first version of the Chief which I believe I got it in the late 80's or early 90's and I have not gotten any glitches yet. Knock on wood.
