Good Morning,

I am looking for ideas on building my second ( upper ) deck on an HO layout. This is a free standing layout with no wall support. I would like to avoid fastening to the ceiling if possible.

My main area's of interest are the loop at the end of the peninsula. I anticipate the widest point of overhang will be 18" to 21" in some spots. I am using dimensional lumber.

Any suggestions and or pictures ( love those pictures ) would be greatly appreciated.

How I did it.

It would have to be pretty wide to be stable without a connection to the ceiling.  On my On30 double deck layout, the lower level is 5' across at the peninsula and the second level is 4' across.  I built a wall down the center and cantilevered the deck so there are no legs other than the center wall.
