Anyone have any tips or recommendations for painting resin or plastic wood loads so that the wood actually looks like lumber? I'm building an N scale saw mill and need lots of lumber in various size stacks. While I have created molds of the lumber stacks, I can't seem to find the correct color. Started with a base layer of tan, and then added some white wash to areas.  But as I look at photos, it seems like some deeper reds and oranges are needed to get the variability within lumber loads. I'm wondering about using some burnt umber and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.

Conversely I have stained some wood piles made from scrap wood pieces with Minwax stains and results are fairly good using a golden oak or honey oak color.  But I figure I need about a 100 or so lumber piles in the wood yard, so I'd prefer to cast them in resin and paint rather than the longer route of cutting scale lumber to size and gluing piles together.  Anyone have any ideas or alternate thoughts?

Used Ink on White primer

I got the raw wood look on Kilz2 primered wood and styrene using Ink:

The Kilz2 primer eliminates the color in the wood making a blank palette.

Here the result on styrene.
