Is there a way for me to get notifications to a post I make or when a thread I want to follow gets a reply or is otherwise updated?

Thanks,

sadly - no

The new and improved MRH forums might have this option (I Hope So!) but currently there is no notification mechanism.

AFAIK...

Dear Greg,

Apart from manually going to the "Track" tab on your Profile page,

or using the "Recent Posts" link at right and using skim-read techniques to keep-up with the topics that particularly interest you,

no, AFAIK there are no "auto notification" fucntions available...

Clunky but sort of works

Set a Google Alert using the title of the thread and Model Railroad Hobbyist as the alert term. Enclose the thread title in quotes and MRH in quotes. Alerts are usually delayed by a day or two depending upon when the site is crawled.

I have used the contact

I have used the contact feature on the web site and had good luck with it so far and have been contacted by other posters as well. One just needs to have the proper settings in their profile.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies folks. I was pretty sure I wasn't missing something but it is good to know for sure. I am using the "Track" feature to do the deed.
