Hello all!

I'd like to present my HO scale layout. Firstly I must say that it's already been taken apart due to several reasons, which will be discussed a bit later.

Some facts:

It took about 5 years to built and it has about 8 - 9 square metres. Layout theme is based on steam era (around 1880 - 1920). It's not limited to any special place, but rather to places all over the world (USA, Europe, etc.), because my goal was to mix different machinery, styles etc. from that time and not to place everything exactly as it was. Therefore you can see donkey engines (USA) alongside logging cableways (which were common in Europe), some german styled buildings and much more.

Track is Roco line and trains are mostly german companies from 1900s (K.BAY.STS.B. (Königlich Bayerische Staatseisenbahnen oz. Royal Bavarian State Railways), K.P.E.V. (Königlich Preußische Eisenbahn-Verwaltung oz. Royal Prussian Railway Administration) and K.W.ST.E. (Königlich Württembergische Staats-Eisenbahnen).

The layout was actually BUILT IN the room, so it wasn't portable at all. So I've decided to disassemble it and start another project, modular logging layout (placed in the same era). I'll post progress in another thread on this forum soon. Beside that, layout had several flaws in track itself, it had too many hardly accessible tunnels etc. So new layout was obvious decision...

And here are some pictures of my (previous) layout:

Town train station:

Sawmill complex:

Cableway built after real thing in Europe, Slovenia. It's called Pantz logging cableway:

Traction engine:

Main castle:

Village:

And town again, now from higher perspective:

On the train station:

Locomotive shed:

Entrance to the port:

New tractors arrived to the town:

And some pictures of the rolling stock:

That's it for now. Any comments/questions are more than welcome

Best regards from Europe, Slovenia!

Nejc

Wow!

Great stuff, there.  I LOVE the main castle (always had a thing for castles) and the modeling is superb.  It's a shame it has already been dismantled, but hopefully you've managed to salvage much of it for a future layout.

Superb

I had better jump in quickly before all of the superlatives get used up.

Consider my jaw dropped. WOW that is fine modeling. And so different from what I am accustomed to seeing on train layouts. The castle is really cool.

They took all my lines! I

They took all my lines! I really liked the castle. I am not a big follower of models of other than USA prototypes but the model looks great. Sad to hear it was dismantled. The layout conveyed to me images of Europe from movies I have seen years ago. Very nicely done.

Hey Nejc, I welcome you. You

Hey Nejc,

I welcome you. You have finally joined to the group. We are three from Slovenia now.

I was sad too when you mentioned you took the previous layout apart. But considering the layout we can expect this time even better stuff. I barely waiting for the news. Logging scene has been always one of my favorite.

Cheers,

That was really a beautiful layout.  It had to hurt to take it apart.  Looking forward to your next build, I'm sure it will be even better, if that's possible.

Thank you all

Thank you all for your very kind words! I'm glad you like it.

I must say that I managed to save almost all structures and scenery (trees, bushes, etc.) during dismantling, but most of it won't be used on a new layout.

Let me paste a few pictures more. Here are 3 more pictures of the castle:

Leftovers of the wall in front of the willage:

Bridge in front of the willage:

Another bridge (near sawmill complex):

And another part of the port:

Outstanding Work

Reminded me of some of the scenery biking around Bayern (I was stationed in Munich in the 1960's and worked for an outfit that was headquartered in Munich in the 1990's). So sorry that you decided to tear it down, but replacing the old layout with a modular logging layout should be fun. Except for test and garden layouts, all of my layouts have been modular, and I always managed to include an Appalachian logging scene.

Thanks again guys!

Thanks again guys!

Logging was always one of my ''passions'', so I'm really looking forward to building a new layout. Without endless tunnels
