Okay, here are my photos from the last day of the NTS (I've still got more to add to some previous days, I think... possibly a couple missing layout tours).

This is going to be divided up into overhead show shots, product shots (I got the Moloco cars, reshot one of the C636's, took some additional detail shots of the SD40s, and demonstrate the existance of the next run of Atlas HO scale C32-8's), and then just some random show stuff... in at least one case, really random.

Overhead show shots

I always like to see how high up I can get in relation to the show - the better to see the modular layouts by. This time it was the third floor at one end. With the depth of the show, this wasn't ideal, but it was better than nothing -

The Miami Valley Modular Railway (I think that is the 24' radius curve that Assistant Editor Don Hanley will be discussing in his August editorial) in the top center -

Tim Warris from FastTracks has spotted me up above, and it appears he has a visitor from InterMountain. It's fun seeing the representatives of the various manufacturers wandering around and getting into conversations as the show starts to wind down on Sunday. Unfortunately my shot of the guys from BLMA, ExactRail, Athearn and Atlas chatting didn't come out good enough even for the National (Model Railroad Industry) Enquirer... -

Bowser BN C636, I was asked for some 3/4 shots. It wasn't until after the end of the show that I learned the SP&S locomotive might have been a better candidate to answer someone's questions (note: do not worry about odd colors, I was not properly white balanced and I sometimes deliberately overexposed a shot to make details easier to see) -

Athearn SD40 detail shots (BTW, an Athearn rep mentioned that they had discovered that one of the handrail colors on the WM/Chessie unit was incorrect and would be fixed prior to production) -

Some random stuff

I thought I had more random photos from Sunday, but apparently not...

The Tangent Guys, with a greatly lowered number of rolling stock models than they came with  - mg_6260a.jpg

These are booth shots from previous show days that I don't think have made it into any of my posts yet. Unlike the Sunday shots, they'll show a somewhat busier show -

mg_5423a.jpg

S Scale/Guage - these guys weren't here to sell but to evangelize - looks like they were doing a pretty good job, too -

mg_5425a.jpg

Bar Mills always has a well stocked booth -

mg_5428a.jpg

Hornby from ground level -

mg_5433a.jpg

I stumbled on this Horizon guy chatting with people at the Walthers booth. Ends up he used to work for Walthers and thus knew them all -

mg_5447a.jpg

Tinplate lives - and MTH is its distributor -

mg_5485a.jpg

This was just fascinating - I'd love to see it run -

mg_5486a.jpg

The ECoS command station from ESU/Loksound -

mg_5491a.jpg

If you thought the above looked complex.... this is who was running it:

mg_5492a.jpg

Fox Valley Model's GP60M's -

mg_5494a.jpg

mg_5495a.jpg

These guys had left by Sunday, leaving behind some flyers on the table - but take a look at the features on the display - how many of these are on the list of desires in the Next Generation DCC topic here?

mg_5527a.jpg

I saw scenery and detailing/weathering companies I'd never even heard of before -

mg_5528a.jpg

Here is Nick with his latest releases -

img_5529.jpg

I'm not sure I'd shown this photo before, but this is the coal-fired live steam locomotive (100psi) from the Contest/Celebration room. It did win multiple awards and someone talked the NTS into providing some space for it to be displayed. It weighs about 800lbs -

mg_5918a.jpg

Model Railroading has two "intermediate scales" that we seem to be hearing more about lately - S scale (1/64th, between HO and O) and TT scale (1/120th, between HO and N). There was a small TT display at the Train Show -

mg_5919a.jpg

mg_5920a.jpg

mg_5921a.jpg

And for the really random, I was there when Monica & Craig from BLMA, and a new friend who had come over from Neu Ulm, Germany as part of the ESU/Loksound crew, got together for a photo at the Operation Lifesaver booth -

mg_6295a.jpg

Okay, that's it for this post - I believe I still have a couple of the modular layouts I photographed to put up, but other than that, that's pretty much everything from Cleveland. See you next year in Portland!

Just have to give a shout out

to Jeff for taking all those photos and posting them all here with some commentary.  Having done this for a 2 day (non-train related) show, I know how much work it is and how exhausted you are at the end of the day and then have to sit on the computer for another few hours putting everything together.  Great job Jeff.  It is appreciated by many of us who couldn't be there.  I really, REALLY hope I get to Portland next year and meet a lot of you guys, but we'll see.

Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club

Thanks for posting all the photos of the show Jeff!  I just wanted to add a few more of our club's layout we brought to the NTS.  There is a brief highlights video of the layout on our YouTube channel.

Everyone in the club had a blast on the trip and the NTS staff was great.  This show was far from home for us but hopefully we will be able to make it out to Indy in two years.

New Subscriber Doing Innovative Scenery Modeling

I am very happy to join this site. For links to my YouTube videos of my past layout, "Magic Train World" that was open to the public many weekends in the past in Greencastle, PA, just search on your smart phone or PC using the word, magictrainworld  (type in as one word). I build very realistic scenery probably more quickly and easier than anyone, and the process is non-toxic and doesn't raise dust.
