Hi, would like suggestions for designing a HO layout in a 16' by 10' room.

I'm a big fan of the late John Allen and his Gorre & Dapheted.
Real life prototypes Great Northern is my favorite.
Thus the layout is intended to depict a bridge route between the two
going from Andrews on the G&D north to a connection with the GN.
Inspiration from Gorre & Daphetid, With Towers Alturas & Lone Pine and Jim Findleys Tioga Pass are welcome.
Landscape should be mountains with bridges. Era is the transition between steam and diesel.
Would also like a junction with the Northern Pacific like John had an interchange with Southern Pacific.
Passenger cars are MDC Roundhouse Overton coaches, freight cars are mostly 40' with a few 50' cars.
Engines for the bridge route are Samhongsa 2-4-4-2 articulateds (got three of those),
2-truck Heisler, Shay and Climax.
Also have Spectrum 4-6-0 and 2-8-0 (intended as G&D engines),
Proto 2000 GP7 and Broadway Limited NW2 painted for GN, Atlas Alco RS11 painted for NP.
Proto 1000 Budd RDC3 for GN and a Walthers 60' Doodlebug (NP?).
Nothing bigger than that need to be able negotiate the line.
Online industries should include stock pens, logging & mining and a brewery for the Olde Frothingslosh reefer.
I have kits for the Squawbottom station, two level Cross Junction and the Atlas kit used to kitbash Andrews station.
Also want to include the Gorre two stall engine house and a wooden trestle.
Engine facility with coaling tower, water tower and turntable.
Door opens outward and there are nothing else interfering in the room, full height everywhere and no windows.
Would like runaround capability and using a lift out bridge at the door is acceptable but operation should be possible without the bridge.
Hidden staging (underneath?) for G&D and GN at each end and NP somewhere along the line.
A workbench somewhere with track connecting to the layout.
A peninsula opposite the door might extend the length of the line but any thoughts are welcome.

I'd probably try a twice or maybe even three times around the room design with about 30 inch wide benchwork which would leave about a 5 foot by 11 foot central operators area. Weaving the two tracks thru the hills could create the G&D vibe.  Towns and industries could be staggered along the tracks so they don't line up on adjacent mainline laps. I guess staging could be hidden somewhere along the way or maybe just stage it on a visible siding or spurs track. Most of the wants could fit I'd imagine although the multiple lay design would work best with a duck under permanently installed at the door. ...DaveB
