http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=305338 I was very pleasantly surprised by 3 Northbound trains passing each other at Summit, on Cajon Pass. The center train was powered by 7 units, the lead 3 were rescue power from a Southbound train.

Congrats!

Josh, that's one cool prototype photo! Congrats, lots of great action in that "lucky" shot.

Jabaakko Now that's Rail

Jabaakko Now that's Rail Fanning.

what are the chances for that shot? 1in a Thousand maybe? I spend most of my younger years hanging around that area and never saw anything like that all at once.

Very Cool shot

Very nice shot!

You sure wouldn't see that every day, that's for sure.

nice shot.....

In the 20 years ago you used to see alot of traffic through there but you certainly dont get very many opertunities to see that these days. Kinda like a modern version of the old Horseshoe Curve shot. I like 3 mainlines it always makes for great shots.

At the right time at the right place!

And with equipment. You're lucky. And you have an eye for great pictures.

Thanks for the comments! I

Thanks for the comments! I was certainly happy when I was sitting there for 45 minutes, after being up for 20 hours (2PM the 24th until the ~10AM on the 25th) at that time. It was a great payout for staying awake for the drive from San Diego to Rosamond CA. While waiting, another railfan and I got a short chat in, he was hoping for a 3 across meet, didn't quite happen, but nice anyways... Chatted with another railfan who was from out of state (for the life of me I cannot remember which state) earlier in the day, near Cajon Station. He had been there shooting for about an hour, says he stops in every time he comes out to Socal to visit his daughter. NEXT time I go out to Rosamond, I'm making the ~47 mile trek to Walong! *off topic* after the 20 hours until that shot, I managed to make it another 12 hours, for a 32 hour day!

Marathon...

Wow, 32 hours.  I haven't done that since I was in my 20's, about 20 years past now.  Thanks for the background story.

I'd be dead if I did that now ...

I pulled off stuff like that in my 20s (32 hour days) but I couldn't do that now in my 50s. Enjoy it while you can ... I'm still pinching myself every time I think I'm now almost a senior citizen (sheesh).

I need my beauty rest these days - and believe me, those who have to look at me these days appreciate it!

Joe,

Knowing a bit of what your "daily grind" must entail, I have to say I am pretty impressed [grin]

Joe I know exactly what you

Joe I know exactly what you mean except for one thing I could sleep for 32 weeks and it wouldn't do my beauty the least bit of good. I'm beyond any chance of beauty any more and staying up for 32 hours is out of the question lol.
