I acquired this plastic 4-6-4  with a 12 axle tender at a train show in the bargain bin for two dollars.  I'm thinking that it would be a good place to practice weathering on a steam locomotive before making it into a flatcar load.  Does anyone know what model or railroad it may belong to?

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick and accurate  reply; it is definitely a Hudson.  I'll have to weather very lightly, since it would be, at most, 2 years old or thereabouts.

Yup, that's it. NYC Hudson

Here's what the original box looks like.

One key feature of the New York Central steamers (not all of them) but something that seemed to be unique to them was the very large coal space in the tender. This reduced the water capacity a great deal. The central used lots of track pans to replenish water on the move so the extended coal capacity was very helpful, and the reduced water capacity was easily over come.

They used similar long coal spaces on other locomotives as well.
