Modern Lights

As far as I know they only make these lights in HO scale. They do have lights made for N scale and a few for O and Z scales also. You might want to check those out. I found several HO products that looked interesting. They have so much stuff I didn't have a chance to go through everything.

For N scale, you don't need

For N scale, you don't need the fixture - just glue the LED to the side of the building above the door. If your eye is over 12 inches away you'll never know the difference - and if the light is on you could be right on top of it and not tell.

MLW, you might check out JTT lights such as the one seen at  http://www.amazon.com/JTT-Scenery-Products-Light-Utility/dp/B004QJOMBO .  Those I've used are pretty simple, but useful with a little work.  I only needed them for the fixture and arm.  Here's an under-construction pic of one I used on a sand tower I scratched.

Joe the lights on that sand

Joe the lights on that sand tower look real good, as does everything else in the picture. However I was just wondering are there freight cars not on the rails in that picture? To the left of the white car.

Storage boxcars

Thanks for the kind words Rob.  Those cars you mentioned are de-trucked boxcars, used by the enginehouse forces for parts storage.  Here's another under-construction view of the area showing three such cars I've modeled:

Here's a Brad Williams aerial view of the prototype, looking in the opposite direction as the above layout pic.  You can see one of the cars I modeled above and to the right of the enginehouse, and the other two between the tops of the two sand towers.
