Does anyone know of a sound decoder that uses an accelerometer to control the sounds of a diesel locomotive? The accelerometer should be able to trigger wheel squeal by detecting divergence, acceleration and deceleration sounds, as well as ascent and descent sounds. If possible the sensitivity should detect track bumps and possibly coupler collisions. Thanks for any response. Eugene I'm tiring of pressing the buttons

short answer, no

Dear Eugene, Short answer is No, no such animal exists. Slightly longer answer, at least half of your requested functions are possibly as "automatic" (as opposed to "manually triggered") with appropriate decoder setup, suitable BEMF <> sound mapping/config, and Speed Step interaction. Full answer, virtually all of your desired functionality is currently available in RTR Euro locomotive offerings (Google and YT search for "loksound class 66 sound"). Strategic use/repurpose of CAM inputs can provide truck Yaw/swing, coupler/draftgear status, and similar "loco condition feedback" functionality... Existing Loksound and Digitrax decoders have the "program your own" capabilities to achieve many of your desired functions. Also, I'd keep an eye on Pricom, a relevant programmable sound player unit is rumored to be in the offing.... Happy Modelling, Aim to Improve, Prof Klyzlr
