Wolfgang

Finally I've found some place for my Silver Creek to test the tracks - in the entrance of my basement. I had added an extension into the floor.  And - like you see - testing is fun !!

;

The engine is a leased engine from a friend. Until now I own only these two cars. Now I can start with scenery. First step, building the station.

Testing is FUN!

Wolfgang,

I agree, testing is fun!  And I love your extension.  The compact track arrangement still seems ot have lots of operating potnetial.  I also like the WT logo hangin above the layout.  Talk about well placed graphics.  Keep it up - we Americans are really getting inspired by our European brother modelers.

Hello Wolfgang, your Silver

Hello Wolfgang,

your Silver Creek modules looks great. Did you use the FREMO FREDI walkaround controllers?

Great Wolfgang! Now that's what I call Model Railroading!!

I love those Blackstone Engines I wish I had a movie camera so I could show you a double Header of those Mudhens going up a 4% grade. I could sit and watch those engines going up and down that grade all day. I still think you have some really fine track work and those Stub switches are Outstanding. I can't wait to see your scenery! If it's anything like the rest of your work it will look great.

track work

kcsphil1,
the logo was a present from my son Eric many years ago.

Colin,
yes, the problem was to get the wye at the three segments of the module. Each segment trapezoidal and not longer than 1m (think of the car ! )  And the crossings and turnouts should not be above the segment border.

Markus, I use about ten FREMO FREDIs. But I own also two UT4. These are quiet handy when you use different engines. My FREDIs are dedicated to several engines.

Dan, until now I have no engine to operate. This Blackstone is "leased" from a friend. Only the two cars are mine. For this module I'm "fighting" with the rocks. I'm not satisfied with the color. And I need some rocks more. In this video you see another "leased" engine from another friend.

I had to built these bridges before laying track. Therefore there's some scenery start.

I like scratch building, especially trackwork. With my next module I think about some code 40.

Nicely done.

Nicely done, Wolfgang. You've done an excellent job of cramming a lot of stuff into such a small space and you've done it so that it doesn't look crowded. Love the bridges.

aspen

Now I've finished - for now - the third segment from my "Silver Creek". Two more to detail!

I've made the aspen following the idea from my friend Peter.

Great Aspens

Well done, Wofgang. The layout might be small, but the detail is outstanding.

Tunnel Lumber

Very nice, Wolfgang, thanks for sharing.

I do have a question on the wood used for the tunnel liner and portal - do you intend on weathering it further?  I see the smoke stains on center of the portal, but it all looks so new, which maybe your intention.

Thank you for the video

I've never seen a wye built like that, very very cool.  I would like to have a wye on my layout, however I never felt I had enough space to do it.  Now that I have seen this method of doing it, I could see a number of places where I could squeeze it in.  Again, thanks for posting this.

Noce video and modeling Wolfgang!

I have a question, though.  I finally saw the couplers at the end of the video.  Which model Kadees are you using?  Those humps and bumps in the track are deliberate, I'm sure, but they look so extreme that I was expecting the cars to come uncoupled as they went over them.  They obviously didn't come uncoupled, so congrats!

coupler

I use Kadee # 714.

That's the type our group prefers.

First Train at silver Valley

Love those Mudhens. Keep those videos coming I like watching your work in action also your aspens are not bad at all. I have a few of them myself (Mudhens) but can't run any right now as I chain sawed my HOn3 lay out and started over. I have 1/2 to 2/3s of the new bench work in place with no track or road bed on it yet and have been building Trees for the past week. I have just started my own aspens or experimenting with the weed tree as the aspen groves are all connected together by their roots spreading under ground and sprouting in groups.

you have great trunk colors on yours and I'm trying to get the same effect on mine.

That's a good point with modules. You connect them and run the train.

Well, I've made another trip over the line. A photo special train!

And my friend Jim Railbender made a video !
