Just finished placing the last coat of Rusty pipe color on the rails and was wondering if anybody else was using MicroBrushes for applying adhesives?

I've found them quite handy and thought I'd share that not only does the Hobby industry use them but also dentistry and cosmetics do to. So I've discovered you can get them in a bulk quantity on Amazon for around $6.50 for 100 of them under the title "Eyelash Extension lint free microbrush". you could probably find them just under microbrush search also and they come in other sizes as well

Microbrush Use

Hi Peter,

I use these a great deal.

First, look for 4 sizes of the microbrush, and also consider the ultrabrush (a small, more traditional "brush" made by the same folks). I have found the ultrabrush even more useful. Avoid purchasing the hobby packages of 10, and get the bulk 100+ quantities for barely more than the package of 10! A google search or an ebay search will get you to the right place.

I use the microbrushes for lubricating, gluing, applying rosin flux for soldering, cleaning, and spot painting. I use the ultrabrushes for painting figures, touch-up painting, lubricating and cleaning. I cut a sharp taper on the ultrabrushes with scissors or an xacto knife. I can't seem to shake the habit of cleaning the little brushes and re-using them when possible. I find they clean easier than expensive brushes and are great for acrylic paints.

These are one of the more recent best tools I've added to my bench.

Best regards,

Geoff Bunza

A great weathering tool

They are great for "scrubbing" in powders for weathering and painting rust or discoloration in those tight spots

Microbrush

Hi Peter,

Thanks for sharing. I've been using these for a while. I found them on ebay for a few dollars in a variety of sizes.

I've used them for everything that you and Geoff mentioned above, but I've had issues when using it with glue (of any kind). The problem I'm having is that the little brush head detaches from the handle. Maybe it's me.

For what it's worth, I keep an old #11 blade in a spare handle and use that as a glue applicator. Works great when you want the tiniest drop of CA.

Re Microbrush

yea the foam does fall off after a couple of super glue applications. I've not tried the knife blade, but have heard of folks using a needle before.
