David,

I just saw on Lance Mindheim's blog ( http://www.lancemindheim.com/blog.htm) that you were there for a visit and Op. Session!  I'm so excited for you!

Please, tell us about your visit...

Hello Bill,   Lance's

Hello Bill,

Lance's layout was spectacular! In every aspect of modeling it's amazing. I've read tons of his articles and have seen many stunning photos, but to see it in person was a whole different spectrum. The realism is ridiculous. His combination of detailing, realistic textures, and accurate colors just made the layout 'pop' without looking busy. I'm no expert by any means, but this is just what I noticed and what stood out to me. Also, I have been reading about his photoshopped structures and to see them in person, it is even more deceiving how real it looks versus the photos. They just look so 3D. The operation of the layout is amazing as well(what's not amazing?!). There were no flaws what so ever. And all his little operating gizmos, like his operating chain link gate, were just so cool and ingenious. Also, most, if not every turnout had a lock on it that you had to unlock in order to throw the switch. Those are just a few examples.

Lance himself is a really neat guy. He was very open to me and my dad visiting and was very hospitable. He was also very open to answering any questions and gave me tons of tips. He is just a really nice guy and a true professional. Literally! If you want someone to build you a layout, definitely hook him up!

Thanks for asking!
