I have created a shrubbery!

Its sort of got that early spring look with the leaves just starting to come out. (next up a picket fence and a garden path)

It's tear down weekend at my house.  Due to new furnace being installed in the near future, my layout needs to come down to install the furnace in a new location.  It wasn't finished and I wasn't quite happy with different aspects of it.  Good thing that comes of this, I get the full length of the end wall of my basement, which now has the old furnace right in the middle.  On to better things !

Some mixed consist shots

The second module is coming along nicely.  I've done the second pour on the river and slowing adding trackside details.

just a few small details

Andrew: Nice two layer effect with the Shrubbery....now where did I put my herring?

Mu26: See now you have a good excuse to build a new layout!! Good luck!

PaPat: Looking good on the details, check out Monster Model Works (MRH sponsor) for tie plate details, they really add to the look of trackside debris.

Been working on adding details to my HO scale Ludgren Equipment machine shop.

I still have a few details to add then lights but I am seeing it getting close to done.

As always more pictures on my blog, you can click the banner below.

Me neither, it's definitely not manzanita though, it grows mostly on dry hillsides....DaveB

It's time for

My favorite thread of the week!  Here's a BN grain train from 1995 with an SD40, a B30-7A (the cabless thing, aka Twinkie) and another SD40-2.

Manzanita

Dave I was thinking the same thing when I saw that! Andrew, manzanita grows rampant on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, mainly between about 1500 feet to 5000 feet in elevation. The following is a sample of a manzanita tree, I think you nailed it!

Small contribution

My Rapido F9B's came in this week, so I decided to display them with some other equipment.  This is my roster of CN passenger equipment, all Rapido products:

Need to get the shine off these guys, but they are looking good.  Next I have to do the VIA equipment, which will be at least two or three photos as I have quite a bit more VIA stuff.

Otowi bridge crossing the Rio Grande at Otowi

8_122543.jpg 8_111821.jpg 8_113937.jpg

Three shots from my DRGW HOn3 Chili Line Otowi, NM bridge scene, completed during the last week. The DRGW crossed the Rio Grande at this point on it's way north. Next stop for train 426 is the boxcar station at Otowi and then on to Espanola and ultimately Antonito on the Santa Fe branch. The Rio Grande water tank is in the background. The bridge is a modified CV kit based on prototype photos . The small white building to the side of the bridge is a water gauging station. A water gauging station is still there today on the prototype's bridge abutment. Sadly the bridge is long gone. The buildings in the background of the third photo are actually across the aisle in Santa Fe, NM.

I am busy getting the layout

I am busy getting the layout ready for an upcoming August Missabe Railroad Historical Society convention tour. One scene nearly complete is this 3-layer crossing of a road that later became part of US 169, Oliver Iron Mining and the DM&IR, all intersecting near Fraser MN and the Sherman mine.  Here are the prototype, obviously copied from eBay, and my model version.

What Is This? The Spanish Inquisition?

Andrew: So the question is, you nailed dead to rights a type of tree you weren't trying to make. Does that make it a success or a failure? Actually, the fact that you ended up with a Shrubbery with that amount of detail, is incredible.

Ernie, nice!

Love the shots of the Chili LIne, your bridge and river scene is especially convincing. Thanks for sharing!
