Dear Al,

Does the "B" indicate a cabless "B-unit"?
If so, isn't the "W" (widecab?) redundant?

For GP40-2Ws, and assuming you are talking HO scale, maybe the Atlas offerings might help?

Huron & Eastern

Since I see you are a TSBY fan   Are you looking to model the Huron and Eastern or the unit as the Central Michigan version  if so  Atlas did models in both versions.  You can see if this is what your looking for here

Thanks, Kevin, yes I see the H&E units a lot, as I live in Saginaw.

Prof, I recently saw the H&E unit in new paint, and the designation on the cab was GP40-2WB, which I thought the same thing that it was redundant, but I wasn't 100% sure.

So, I guess there is no cab or shell other than the Atlas?

If you can find a Canadian Prototype Replica's Cab (from the 80's) you can make these locomotives yourself.

I am personally harboring about 8 of them.

Forgetting Athearn?

They just released the GP40-2L (which is this GP40-2WB designation that H&E has come up with) a little over a month ago. The 'L' stands for light weight, resulting in the unit sitting a real 6 inches higher than a standard GP40-2 or GP40-2W model. However Athearn's loco is only available as an R-T-R model in CN and GO Transit at the moment.

It's a shame to disassemble, strip and repaint these gems. But I get the feeling if you hold out long enough, Athearn will be releasing these GP40-2L units in all their US re-sale schemes
