Hi All

Went to another modelers layout Friday night and learned how to airbrush, 3 hours later, man where did the time go. Was off to Railfest in Kirtland OH on Saturday and picked 5 freight car kits for $25.00. 2 Walthers kits, 2 Bowser kits and a Roudhouse kit.

@Norm

See if you can get your hands on a Verizon MiFi device. Maybe one of your friends will let you borrow one. Those work great just about anywhere. Den

 Yeah, I'd like to hear what all the unaccounted for model railroad hobbyists are doing? How can you read this and not want to comment? Give it a try it only hurts for a little while......DaveB

Take a moment to say Hello

Hi folks;

I lurk here a lot but only occasionally comment.

Went to lunch with a bunch of Model RR friends on Friday. Picked up some freight cars at The Train Shop in San Jose. They had the Atlas release of Evans boxcars in the Weyerhaeuser scheme. They also had some NOS (New Old Stock) Genesis boxcars for a good price as well. Today I painted the wheels, installed Kadee's and weathered the cars.

Last night on the layout, the Oakridge siding extension track-work got finished. Now I just need to wire up and install a Tortoise switch machine.

Happy Sunday to all,

Mike

Hey Guys

I'm here A LOT... probably too much. I do comment occasionally and do have a blog here. I enjoy the discussions (mostly) and have gained some good ideas and tips.

Daily

Daily visit and often keep the site up for hours and check in periodically. Having said that I've not posted much lately as many threads are more about various philosophies, or have been turned into such. As nothing can be solved by such discussions and they have only a vague connection to actual modelling, I just don't post. The one exception is the graphite thread which I've read. Living in a hot air heated home minute dust is a given even with filters in the furnace and on the vents. I've tried the NO-OX treatment and as well as the CRC 3-36 treatment on different areas of the layout. Both work, but I suspect that in my situation  the graphite option may be my best bet. As over half of the layout has been rebuilt and is currently in the locomotive/rolling stock movement testing phase I will be using the graphite treatment once this phase is completed.  I do enjoy the modelling and how-to threads as well as layout tours and follow them closely. The only reason I don't often comment on them is that the superlatives that are well earned have already been exhausted.

As for me, I haven't posted on my blog these last few months as I felt that the rebuild has nothing notable to relate or add to the hobby. I am working on the revised and final track plan for the redesign which has been put into effect and will get it posted once I get a couple minor physical details details sorted out. By that I mean that I have to make a decision and since there is no rush, this being a hobby, I have been procrastinating in that area. Actual rolling stock modelling progressed well over the winter with all of my Tichy ore cars completed as well as a few other little projects.

Have fun all.

Roy

Dropped in

I'm here every day but unless I really have something to say won't say anything. Went to a train show here in Springfield Mo yesterday and made a few good buys. Campbell wharf $40, 1 ea of intermountain and red caboose kits $4 ea, couple of autos and a bag of 2 legged critters that really need a change of clothes.

There was a guy from Ark? who brought up 3 craftsmen kit dioramas. Learned some good tips from he and another guy also from Ark on weathering. Saw the effects of the same in person instead of just in photos. Good inspiration. Got home eventually as we were also celebrating our 30th aniv and did some work on the rr. Really need a good camera. sigh..... And yes my wife enjoys those shows as much as I do.

Also spent about 1/2 hr talking to a guy from Ark who was just starting a display layout. We both had the same exp with the military of getting a 2 yr paid vacation to Europe instead of ending up in a war zone. Thank God for miracles. Anybody else get that treatment?
